Flaherty’s time as finance minister may be over, but any successor faces PM oversight
Expanding the scope of outsourcing can multiply such benefits, some experts say. One simple example is accounts payable and receivables, says Jag Dalal, managing director of thought leadership at the International Association of Outsourcing Professionals (IAOP). If you outsource only one function, you limit your benefits. If you outsource both, you get a value beyond improving the transactional component because the outsourcer can see when cash comes in and goes out. That can help the company take best advantage of the cash on-hand and optimize internal processes. As companies look to leverage the power of their data, they are turning to outsourcers with greater expertise and technology resources than they have in-house.
An offer has been made, and hours and salary are being negotiated. The selectmen approved the three-year contract covering AFSCME union employees, guaranteeing an annual 2 percent salary increase. Chairman Whittaker questioned two seemingly conflicting sections: one where full-time is specified as 32.5 hours excluding meals and another where the selectmen are empowered to set hours at their discretion. China Can Endure Growth Slowdown to 6.5%, Finance Chief Says
Many of the cabinet dominoes will fall around Flaherty, depending on whether he remains in politics, continues on as finance minister or is shuffled to a new portfolio. Despite his battle with a rare skin disease and potential to make significantly more money in the private sector, Flaherty has said he wants to stay on as finance minister until he balances the budget, something the government has vowed to do by the 2015 election campaign. Flaherty’s more than seven years on the job amid a global economic crisis make him one of the most important finance ministers of the last half century, say some political observers, but others argue his track record is lacklustre and marked by some unflattering financial legacies. Should the 63-year-old Flaherty leave federal politics, Harper would have a huge hole to fill in arguably his most important cabinet post.
